To prevent fire in your hotel, you need to audit your hotel every day, make sure hazards are minimised and care taken to train your team.
In order to detect fire, use technology like fire alarm system, heat detectors etc that can tell you the exact location of the fire.
To suppress fire, use Sprinklers, fire hydrants, fire extinguishers etc . Core fire fighting team is also a critical part of the fire suppression strategy
Your role in Fire prevention
Fire in hotels happen anywhere. Kitchen and Laundry sometimes get maximum attention however faulty wiring, over heated storage spaces and spa/ sauna are also prime candidates for fire.
Any area which has combustible material is prone to fire and should be treated with caution.
As a manager, it is your duty to train your team to ensure they are prepared to fight fire.
If you work in a hotel, attend all fire safety training and fire drills organised by your hotel.
Make a document detailing responsibility for every department on what to do in case of fire in the hotel . Distribute it to every department and train them on that during the emergency drill.
